More than 2,800 cases of acute non-flu viral respiratory infections had been recorded in Moldova during the first week of January, Petru Scoferta, laboratory head at the National Scientific Practical Center of Preventive Medicine, has told Info-Prim Neo. The figure is higher compared with the previous week, when there were recorded under 2,400 cases of viral infection. Petru Scoferta said there was reported only one clinical case of flu, but it has not been yet confirmed by laboratory tests. Doctors recommend airing the rooms more often and staying outside for a longer period of time in order to avoid infection. A number of 17 persons died from A H1N1 influenza virus in Moldova in 2010.
