The children at “Floricica” summer camp in Vadul lui Voda town poisoned
because of Staphilococcus Aureus – a bacterium that causes infection. It
was found in the fresh vegetables salad that the children ate and on the
dishes used in the kitchen of the summer camp, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The results of the epidemiological investigation were made public in the
August 1 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials. Deputy Head of the
Chisinau Public Health Center Nicolae Furtuna said the children poisoned
because the hygiene conditions were not respected when the food was
prepared. The bananas and beef contained more nitrates than allowed.
Nicolae Furtuna said the summer camp was closed. The Public Health
Center carried out other inspections and drew up reports on the
violations identified at the summer camps “Neptun”, “Perlele Nistrului”,
“Ciresarul” and “Monolit”.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca proposed toughening up the penalties
against such violations. “I think the first penalty should be a
prescription or fine, the second – closing for a definite period of
time, until the identified irregularities are removed, while the third –
permanent closing and ban on issuing another authorization for such a
kind of activity,” said the mayor.
On July 22, 35 children of two summer camps in Vadul lui Voda poisoned
after they ate at the summer camp “Floricica”.
