The examination in court of cases regarding the illegal financing of parties and electoral campaigns is delayed, Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu said in a press conference. He presented details about these cases, stressing that they vitiate the electoral process, IPN reports.

Ion Munteanu noted that MP Marina Tauber was charged on several counts, namely falsification of reports on the financing of the election campaign and the political party, acceptance of financing from an organized criminal group and interference with the administration of justice. "The criminal investigation was conducted during January 2022-June 2023. 67 volumes were sent to the court, accompanied by a 350-page indictment. So far, 63 hearings were held," said the head of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The Bashkan of Gagauzia Yevgenia Guțul is accused of knowingly accepting financing for the election contestant and the party from an organized criminal group. The criminal investigation began in January 2022 and continued until April 2024. "The criminal case was sent to court in 68 volumes, with an indictment of dozens of pages. So far, there were held 23 hearings. The judicial examination is delayed and this is not the consequence of the actions of the state prosecutor," said Ion Munteanu.

In the case of MP Alexandr Nesterovschi, the criminal case was also sent to court. He is accused of passive corruption in particularly large proportions in the interest of an organized criminal group and preparing the financing of political parties from sources prohibited by law, in large proportions. So far, 12 hearings were held, but there is no finality. The situation is similar with regard to MP Irina Lozovan. She is accused of knowingly accepting financing for the political party from an organized criminal group and, respectively, complicity in the crime.

"These are just a part of the criminal cases that directly vitiate the electoral process. There are also other cases that are under criminal investigation at the specialized and locall prosecutors' offices, which concern dozens of episodes of electoral corruption," said the prosecutor general
