Romanian President Klaus Iohannis considers the outcome of the November 30, 2014 legislative elections makes the pro-European parties share responsibility for Moldova’s democratic course and for forming together the executive power. He made such a statement in a meeting with Moldova’s Ambassador to Romania Iurie Renita on February 4, IPN reports, quoting a communique published on the website of the Administration of the President of Romania.
The Romanian head of state noted that a stable government with a common pro-European view is preferable to any other compromise solutions. Ensuring a parliamentary majority with common interests, aimed at modernizing Moldova and strengthening it democratically, represents the guarantee for a stable government.
According to Klaus Iohannis, the results of the parliamentary elections in Moldova confirmed that the people support the pro-European political option, while the European partners expect that the task entrusted by the Moldova people through elections will be carried out.
The Romanian President also said that the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement signed with the EU allow accelerating the profound structural reforms that need consistent political support, while Moldova’s pro-European orientation must not depend on the outcome of internal political struggles.
