The Romanian Television Society (SRTv) will most probably withdraw the complaint that it submitted against Moldova to the European Court of Human Rights as the Broadcasting Coordination Council accepted that the channel TVR 1 be retransmitted in Moldova, Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to Tanase, SRTv filed the complaint because in 2007 it was deprived of the license allowing it to broadcast TVR 1 on the state network No. 2 that has national coverage. “Now that the situation has changed, we are to discuss this subject and see if SRTv considers it necessary to maintain their claims,” the minister said. The Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Marius Lazurca also said that the case of TVR 1 vs Moldova that is to be examined by the ECHR now is not so important as the Romanian television will be again in Moldova and the conflict will be probably solved amicably. On November 10, the Broadcasting Coordination Council unanimously voted in favor of retransmitting TVR 1 in Moldova through the state-owned network No. 2 that is now used by Telefe M International. The retransmission costs of about US$1 million a year will be supported not by the Government of Romania, but by Telefe M International.
