The difficult winter will be followed by a difficult spring for agriculture and the budgetary system. The legislature must take decisions immediately. Some of the components of the fiscal policy must be reviewed conceptually, MP Igor Dodon, the leader of the Party of Socialists, said in Parliament on Thursday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to Igor Dodon, the fiscal policy must be reformed fundamentally as, owing to its drawbacks, the businesses are harassed financially, while the country’s economy sustains losses of millions. The ruling alliance must admit that the shortcomings in governance have a negative impact on the ordinary people and the real sector of the economy, while the business sector is simply asphyxiated.
The MP expressed concern about the country’s food security. “This year we may witness an agricultural collapse. The first signs in this respect were seen last autumn. The long draught of 2011, the responsible institutions’ defective management and the precarious financial situation in the sector affected the autumn agricultural works. This winter’s frosts worsened the situation. In some of the districts over 50% of the autumn crops were damaged,” said Igor Dodon.
He stressed that the legislative body should immediately adopt a series of measures to help the farmers, first of all to exempt them from the land tax for 2012. He also said that the agricultural producers should be allocated by 30 liters of diesel fuel per hectare for the spring works. The MP also recommended purchasing 30,000-35,000 tonnes of food wheat for the state reserve, especially from the national producers.
“As to the social polices, the first thing that is to be done now, in winter, is to increase the compensations for public utilities, and then to raise the pensions and salaries in April. These and other issues must be discussed within the next few months. The government and the opposition must reach compromises on the pressing problems,” said Igor Dodon.
He called on the MPs of the ruling alliance to resolve the political crisis and elect the head of state so as to be able to take decisions afterward.
