Spring in Botanica district used for 10 years

In December it is 10 years since the residents of Chisinau’s Botanica district have drunk water from the spring located on Trandafirilor St. The people take over 14 tonnes of water from this spring daily, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, SA Apa-Canal Chisinau says that the spring water is not only tasty, but also curative, as the consumers say. Tatiana Cujba lives two quarters of the spring. She found out about it from the neighbors. She uses daily by about five liters of water brought from that spring. She said that the water is very good for tea, coffee and soup. Another inhabitant said that she started to take water from the spring after her filter broke down. She said that she does not feel a difference between filtered water and the water from the spring, which is as good because it does not contain chlorine. The spring water is also used by residents of other districts of Chisinau. The taste of this water is similar to that of mineral water and does not contain unsafe substances, said specialists of SA Apa-Canal Chisinau. Every day they take samples of water to determine its quality. The water has been safe to drink for many years. The water comes up from a well that is located ten meters of the spring. Before getting to the spring it goes through a salt filtering system. The filter is changed once in three months, while the ultraviolet lamp that disinfects the water is replaced once in half a year. According to estimates, over 5,070 cubic meters of water had been taken from this well in 2011. The costs for maintaining the spring during 10 years have been covered by the Chisinau administration. They total over 246,000 lei. The spring was built by the model of springs situated in Kiev and Odessa. It has been managed by SA Apa-Canal Chisinau since it was put into operation.
