The spring cleanup works will start in Chisinau on March 2 if weather permits. The banks of the Byk River already started to be cleaned, while the main streets are cleared of the leaves that remained from autumn, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the head of the green areas managing company “Spatii Verzi” Eliferii Haruta.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca suggested engaging students of municipal high schools and vocational schools in the cleanup. “Cleanup works should be performed at three locations – a school, a kindergarten and a public area. I consider we must involve those with whom we work,” the mayor said in the February 25 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials.
He proposed carrying out cleanup campaigns throughout March, including with the assistance of those from “Come on, Moldova” project as there are not enough resources and cleanup services to cover the entire city. “Last year, we awarded the cleanest yard of apartment building. Now we can award the cleanest kindergarten or school yard,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
The head of the Education, Youth and Sport Division Tatiana Nagnibeda Tverdohleb said a cleanup plan for March was already drown up.
