The Sports Press Association of Moldova nominated Aaron Cook as the best athlete in Moldova in 2015. This year the naturalized sportsman has represented Moldova after the UK dropped him from the squad for the 2012 Olympic Games, IPN reports.
Cook asserted himself very quickly. He first won a bronze medal in Chelyabinsk, making it the first medal won by Moldova at the World Taekwondo Championship, the Olympic version. Aaron Cook, who has qualified for the Rio Olympics, outstripped canoeist Sergei Tarnovschi and weightlifter Oleg Syrgi in the rankings compiled by the Moldovan journalists. “My goal is to win a medal at the Olympic Games. I hope I will succeed,” the athlete said in the Award Gala.
The coach of the national canoeing team Alexandr Kirpichenko was named the coach of the year, while Milsami, which became Moldova’s football champion for the first time this year, became the team of the year.
