A sports ground for the students of the Ungheni-based Theoretical Lyceum “Vasile Alecsandri” will be constructed by September 1 this year. Contacted by IPN, the lyceum’s principal Lidia Covali said that the students during 20 years have been unable to do physical education lessons in appropriate conditions. The school didn’t have a gym either.
A French NGO donated over €8,000 for building the sports ground that will have running tracks, a mini-football field, a volleyball field, areas for jumps and paved sidewalks.
The NGOs’ director Philippe Chaudier carried out a number of charity actions in France in order to collect funds. “The French associations that made common cause collected over €8,000 and this money will be used to built the sports ground. A group of French people will come in July to volunteer and exchange experience with students of the lyceum,” said Lidia Covali.
The Theoretical Lyceum “Vasile Alecsandri” is attended by over 550 students.
