The works to renovate the sports complex of the State Teacher-Training University “Ion Creanga” of Chisinau, which is 1,000 square meters in area, are to be completed by September or October this year, said the University’s pro-rector Constantin Ciorba.
The construction of the sports complex started 15 years ago. The extensive repair works were resumed in October-November last year.
In a response to an inquiry made by IPN News Agency, the pro-rector said the complex is not functional because it was not outfitted with heating, lighting and ventilation systems. When the works are finished, this will become multifunctional and will house national and even international cultural and sports events.
The complex will be divided into several areas: for basketball, for volleyball and a mini football pitch.
A sum of 10 million lei is to be allocated from the state budget this year for the renovation works.
