The Cabinet has approved the installation of a bust to the scholar and professor Spiru Haret to mark his 165th birthday. The sculpture will be erected outside the Chisinau lyceum that is named after Spiru Haret, IPN reports.
The costs of sculpting the bust, installing it and performing landscaping work of its surroundings will be covered by the lyceum.
Spiru Haret was a Romanian mathematician, pedagogue and astronomer of Armenian descent, born in Iasi. During his three terms as Romania's Minister of Education, Haret ran deep reforms, building the modern Romanian education system.
