Writer Spiridon Vangheli presented a book with verses written by Grigore Vieru, on which he worked over the last two years, in the November 18 meeting of heads of Chisinau services and divisions. The book “You called me son?” has 128 pages and seven thematic chapters. It was illustrated by works made by painters Igor Vieru and Simion Zamsa, IPN reports.

“We need roads as well as soul bridges for our nation. It’s a pity that Grigore is no longer among us. If he had been here, he would have kissed this book that he had awaited all his life. There is no similar situation in the word, when a child who was brought up in the absence of his father and who ate sunflower stems during the war became the father of all the nation’s children, whom he ‘adopted’,” said Spiridon Vangheli.

The master underlined that it’s not hard to produce a book about Grigore Vieru, but it’s simultaneously not easy. The hardest was to synthesize the poems about love, as Spiridon Vangheli said, they are all wonderful and it’s difficult to select them. The seven chapters include poems about childhood, the mother, the war, love, national renaissance and the Moldovan folklore.

The book was printed in 5,000 copies and will be distributed free to all the schools, lyceums and public libraries of Chisinau municipality. The Chisinau administration plans to publish another 5,000 copies that would be put on sale. The volume was printed with the financial support of the Chisinau City Hall.
