Spiridon remains at Shahtar Donetsk

One of the most famous Moldovan football coaches Alexandru Spiridon prolonged his contract with Ukraine’s Shahtar Donetsk for two years. He will remain the assistant of Romanian coach Mircea Lucescu, who reportedly will leave the Ukrainian team this summer, IPN reports.

Spiridon came to Shahtar in 2004. Since then, the team has won 16 trophies, including six titles of champions of Ukraine, five cups, and three super cups, as well as an UEFA Cup.

Alexandru Spiridon, 52, is the first Moldovan coach who obtained the UEFA PRO license that enables to train any club in Europe.

As a footballer, Alexandru Spiridon played for Nistru Chisinau, Zarea Balti, Zimbru Chisinau, and Tiligul Tiraspol. As a coach, he worked at Zimbru, Tiligul, Nistru Otaci, and the youth and seniors national squads of Moldova.
