Drivers will be obliged to travel at a speed of at most 30 km/h in areas with an increased flow of vulnerable road users, such as educational institutions, hospitals, parks and historic centers, as a bill approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday provides.

Secretary general of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sergey Diaconu said the management of speed includes a set of measures for limiting the negative effects of excessive and inappropriate speeding in the transport system.

“The children aged between 5 and 14 and the young people aged between 14 and 29 form part of the age bracket exposed to a maximum risk. Special attention should be provided namely to these age groups and a series of priorities should be set so as to increase road safety for these road users,” says the bill.
