Specialty commission approves report on health insurance funds law for second reading

The commission on social protection, health and family approved the report on the draft law on the mandatory health insurance funds for next year and is to submit it to Parliament for adoption in the second reading. Under the document, the mandatory health insurance premium in 2021 remains 4,056 lei, as this year. The premium in percentage form remains at the level of 9%, IPN reports.

The revenues of the mandatory health insurance funds next year will be 11.1 billion lei, while the expenditure - 11.3 billion lei. The deficit of 200 million lei will be covered with the balance that will form at the end of 2020. Compared with the sum approved for 2020, the revenues will be by about 33% higher, while the expenditure – by 35.3% higher.

The largest part of the revenues of over 11.1 billion lei will be used to pay for current medical services, an increase of about 36% compared with the sum approved for 2020.

The annual budget laws are examined and adopted by Parliament in two readings. In the first reading, the document was adopted by the votes of the Socialist MPs and the MPs of the For Moldova Platform, which includes the MPs of the Shor Party, amid the protest of the opposition that blocked the central rostrum.
