300 tablet PCs and 100 laptops intended for children with special educational needs will be outfitted with specialized software through the agency of the Moldova Education Reform Project. Eleven applications that will facilitate the inclusive education process will be installed by the end of this month. The equipment ready for use will be distributed to the 100 national Resource Centers for Inclusive Education by this yearend, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.
Representatives of the Psycho-Pedagogical Assistance Services and of the National Center for Psycho-Pedagogical Assistance will be trained online to use the equipment for teaching purposes.
The software will contribute to developing thinking and stimulating attention, developing reading and writing skills, in Romanian and also in Russian, converting texts into an audio format and other teaching/learning methods needed in the case of students with special educational needs.
The software was purchased with financial support from the World Bank.
The Moldova Education Reform Project is a specific investment loan for April 2013 – April 2020 provided by the World Bank to support the Government of Moldova by financing activities that will improve the quality of education and will contribute to a more efficient education sector.
More IT equipment needed by children with disabilities was earlier bought through this project.
