A special commission will additionally examine the national preselection of Eurovision Junior Song Contest. The Supervisory Board of the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” ordered creating it as a result of a number of complaints and challenges, IPN reports.
In the last meeting of the Supervisory Board, the Board’s head Aurelia Peru-Balan said the commission that includes a Board member will analyze how the song contest was held and if its regulations were observed. Even if irregularities are identified, the commission will be unable to cancel the contest results or to disqualify the winner. The same commission will monitor the national preselection stage in the next contests given that more people are dissatisfied with its holding and accuse the organizers of non-transparency.
This year, an initiative group consisting of parents, choreographers and teachers of music of participants in the contest submitted a petition, accusing the organizers of seriously violating the regulations, with the jury being non-objective when choosing the winner. People’s Artist Vasile Morosanu, who headed the initiative group, informed the Supervisory Board that the winning song is longer than 3 minutes, while the verses in the foreign language represent more than 50% of the whole text. Also, the name of the winner was known from the very beginning as when Moldova confirmed its participation it specified the participant’s name, even if the national contest hadn’t yet taken place.
Director of the public TV channel Moldova 1 Mircea Surdu, one of the members of the organizational committee of Eurovision Junior Song Contest, said that this contest, including the national stage, is rather expensive and the largest part of the costs are covered by the parents of the children who take part in it. According to him, Teleradio-Moldova cannot organize a proper pre-selection contest with a show because it does not have such money. Nine European countries are taking part in the contest. Moldova is not prepared technically and is not obliged to take part.
The 2013 Eurovision Junior Song Contest will take place in Kiev on November 30. Moldova will be represented by Rafael Bobeica with the song How we should be.
