Speaker of the Parliament Marian Lupu, member of the Party of Communists (PCRM), is the supporter of its reformation, which would respect the continuity and personal norms and the personalities working in the party, at the same time would align the party with the present realities, the Speaker told a news conference on Thursday, July 26.
According to Lupu, the idea of reforming the Party is being discussed in view of the elections which will take place in 2009, in order to bring electoral success to the Party. At the same time, he considers that this situation should be seen from another point of view as well – that of European values. At the moment when the European integration goal was announced, a process which needs adjustments in the society on the whole, Lupu pleaded for the modernisation of the state structures and of Moldova, as this process first of all depends on the modernisation of the most important elements of the political class.
The idea of reforming the Party is justified not only by reasons related to the elections, but as well as by the adjustment of the political activity to the conditions of the new realities – the European policy.
Also, Marian Lupu said that the modernisation should equally target elements of doctrine, including the name of the Party. “I can not see the political force I represent supporting the leftist political groups, which are marginalised at European level”, Lupu said, mentioning that he wants a normal political force, which promotes its continuity on the right-centre direction of the political spectrum and a participation in the same political movement at European level.
The President of Moldova, concurrently the leader of PCRM, Vladimir Voronin told a news conference on Wednesday that certain issues related to the reformation of the party will be discussed at the Congress of the Party on March 18, 2008, without giving any details on the reforms.
