Head of Parliament Andrian Candu is having discussions with the leaders of the parliamentary groups with a view to identifying a mechanism for selecting candidates for the post of governor of the National Bank of Moldova, IPN reports.
“Currently, the legislation does not provide a method for selecting the candidates. It only says that the Head of Parliament suggests a candidate, but does not specify how he/she is chosen. We must invent a selection method. I started the discussions with the leaders of the parliamentary groups. The consultations are to be finished this week. We must know their views. By the end of this week, they will submit proposals,” said Andrian Candu.
“I hope I will be able to soon present selection proposals so that we afterward name the governor, the vice governors and also four members of the Supervision Board of the National Bank”.
As to the possibility of holding a contest, Andrian Candu said he will consult jurists first. He noted that they didn’t discuss candidates, but only methods of choosing these.
