The farmers started the spring agricultural works. Over the past few days, the farmland has been sowed with wheat, pea, rape and sugar beet. Vasile Şarban, division head at the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, has told IPN that immediately after the period of late spring frost of the first and second decades of April is over, the farmers could sow corn, sunflower and potatoes.

Vasile Şarban noted the moisture reserve in soil is now sufficient. Reasons for concern will appear if the temperatures vary around 20 degrees Celsius during several days in a row

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, winter wheat was sowed on an area of 333,000 hectares, barley on 49,000 ha, rape on 40,000 ha, while pea on 20,000 ha.

It is planned to sow 485,000 ha with corn, 360,000 ha with sunflower, 38,000 ha with soybean, 32,000 ha with spring barley, about 20,000 ha with sugar beet and approximately 4,000 ha with spring wheat.
