South Korean businesses are willing to invest in Moldova, in particular in agriculture and industry, and also to import Moldovan wine and fresh fruit. Eduard Rosca, the director of the Moldovan Business Development Center, has told a press conference on Thursday that South Korea has a wide variety of business propositions for Moldova, but it is Moldovan businessmen who should take the first step and show interest, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Koreans say they are ready to cooperate with Moldova, especially by transferring here their advanced technologies. Further, the Korean government has a wide range of grants and projects for which Moldovan businesses may qualify. But the Moldovan style of doing business is that we wait for someone to knock at our door, asking to sell them our products. This is not a good way of attracting investment. We should be persevering and try all the possibilities to get people invest in Moldova”, said Eduard Rosca.
“Regretfully, Moldova currently doesn't have access to Korean funds because there is no opening on the Moldovan end. So we take this occasion to convey a message to businessmen, farmers and politicians in Moldova: South Korea is willing to do business, to help us, to invest their money here. We just need to ask”, stressed Eduard Rosca.
He added that South Korea was particularly attracting for the advanced technologies it could offer for the development of the Moldovan business. At a recent international fair in South Korea, he remarked a large number of innovations that could be implemented in Moldova, especially in the agrifood sector. These include, for example, flash-freezing technologies and smart greenhouse solutions.
Besides agriculture, the Moldovan delegation that visited South Korea learned that businessmen in that country would be also willing to cooperate in areas like construction materials, energy production, including from renewable sources, and the IT sector, including e-government.
At the same press conference, Han Ho Jin, representative of the South Korean diplomatic mission to Moldova, confirmed that our country had a great potential for investment. “South Korea is ready to assist you and offer investment”.
Visiting Moldova, Zoong-Ho Park, a businessman from South Korea, said the Small and Mid-sized Enterprises Exhibition recently held in Chisinau inspired him to consider starting a business in Moldova to produce potato snacks using modern technology. “There are many people I know who are willing to come and start businesses in Moldova, because Moldova has a good location, close to the European markets”, said Zoong-Ho Park.
