South Korea marks 66 years of the declaration of its independence from Japan on August 15. “It is hard to celebrate my country’s day while far away. In Moldova, there are not many Koreans,” Han Ho Jin, the representative of the Embassy of South Korea in Moldova, with residence in Kiev, and coordinator of the Center for Korean Culture and Language at the Free International University of Moldova, stated for Info-Prim Neo. Han Ho Jin has stayed in Moldova since 1993. He said the Moldovan-Korean relations have significantly improved. Even if the Embassy of South Korea is situated in Kiev, Moldova is not disadvantaged. More Moldovan students study in South Korea and Korean businessmen are more tempted to start businesses in Moldova. “The Moldovans are very good, work hard and want to develop. I knew many intelligent persons, especially IT experts. I know that the Moldovans are very hospitable. Moldova has very good soil and agriculture can be developed,” said Han Ho Jin. He also said that except the physical differences, the Moldovans and Koreans are very much alike. Both of the peoples consist of kind, hardworking and peace-loving persons. Han Ho Jin stated that he received many greetings from Moldovans for the Korean people on the occasion of the Independence Day and he is very grateful for this. According to him, every people must love their country, while the citizens must do something for their motherland and not expect the state to do something instead of them.
