Soroca – Balti conduit will be extended

Six districts and the municipality of Balti will be connected to the drinking water supply under a memorandums signed by the Government and the local authorities. The project covers 460,000 residents of Soroca, Floresti, Drochia, Rascani, Sangerei, Telenesti districts and the municipality of Balti, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government. Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who took part in the signing of the memorandum, said the settlements of the region, except Soroca town and the municipality of Balti, currently use underground water that is very polluted and unsafe to drink. Vlad Filat said that the Soroca – Balti conduit will be gradually extended to cover the mentioned districts. The conduit will be regionalized through a public-private partnership project that will be implemented in strict compliance with the EU policies and norms. The Government will contribute its own money to the project, but will also attract foreign grants.
