The parliamentary group of Șor Party put forward a bill that enables pensioners to buy medicines at accessible prices or even free, IPN reports.
In a press briefing, MP Reghina Apostolova said they propose to subsidize medicines in the amount of 60%, 80%, 90% and even 100% of the price of drugs. not only for persons with old-age pensions, but also for those with disability pensions, those who lost the maintainer or those who are in special conditions, in accordance with the law on the pension system.
Reghina Apostolova noted such a law is needed as the incomes of the people, primarily of the pensioners, are very low. Even after the pensions were raised on October 1, they do not cover the bare essentials of pensioners. Owing to the shortage of money to buy medicines, the state of health of pensioners worsens and they become confined to bed or even die prematurely.
The Șor Party’s group said the subsidies can be provided as from next year.
In the Republic of Moldova, there are about 680,000 pensioners and 552,000 of them receive old-age pensions.
