The parliamentary group of Șor Party proposed increasing the social benefits for families with children, including by introducing a monthly allowance that would be paid up to the age of 18, IPN reports.

MP Regina Apostolova told a news conference that the monetary value of the minimum consumer basket at the birth of the child should not be lower than two average official salaries. For the next child, this sum should not be lower than three average salaries.

The MP noted a child support benefit should be paid until the person turns 18. For the first month, the benefit should be equal to an average official salary, while for the rest of the period to 2% of the average official salary. The figure can be approved annually by the Government.

According to Reghina Apostolova, an increasing number of families decide to have by only two children and the demographic situation continues to be worrisome. The population is aging and drastic measures should be taken to prevent a collapse of the pension system.
