The Șor Party requested the Constitutional Court to pronounce on the Parliament decision by which Ilan Șor is striped of the seat of MP and to suspend the given decision, IPN reports.
The party considers the given Parliament decision is illegal, abusive and runs counter to the legal framework and the supreme law and seriously violates the basic rights of an elected official in the absence of a definitive and irrevocable court decision.
Representatives of the party asked the Court not to validate the seat of MP of the next substitute candidate on the party’s list until the issue is settled so as not to encroach on Ilan Șor’s constitutional rights as an elected MP and not to allow irremediable consequences.
The leader of the Șor Party Ilan Șor remained without the seat of MP after Parliament took note of the Chisinau Appeals Court’s decision by which the politician was sentenced to 15 years in jail. By its definitive decision of April 13, the Chisinau Appeals Court sentenced Ilan Șor to 15 years behind bars for swindle and money laundering in the bank fraud case and banned him from holding posts in the banking sector for a period of five years and ordered to levy a sum of 5.2 billion lei on the politician.
