A part of the extraparliamentary parties make themselves noticed by promoting clear views on problems faced by society, considers managing co-chairman of the People’s Party of Moldova (PPRM) Alexandru Oleinic. He referred to the collection by his party of signatures in support of electing the President of Moldova by direct vote, IPN reports.

In the public debate “If parliamentary elections took place tomorrow … Image of the government and power perceived by Moldovan society as an index for the country’s political prospects” that was staged by IPN, Alexandru Oleinic said that the campaign goes on and they are confident that they will collect the signatures needed to amend the Constitution.

The politician said the PPRM will sensitize Parliament to the necessity of amending the Constitution as the lack of clarity as regards the election of the head of state creates a lot of problems concerning the political and economic instability, the political influence exerted on people. Electing the head of state by direct vote is the people’s wish.

PPRM launched the signature collection campaign “You elect the President” in May. The signatures are collected by the party’s local organizations in all the country’s settlements.

The public debate “If parliamentary elections took place tomorrow … Image of the government and power perceived by Moldovan society as an index for the country’s political prospects” is the 23rd of the series “Development of political culture by public debates” that are organized with the support of the German foundation “Hanns Seidel”.
