Several children summer camps face the risk of remaining closed on the first day of June, when the holiday season is due to begin, because of the failure to comply with the fire safety rules. Liliana Puscasu, senior officer at the Fire and Rescue Department, has told Info-Prim Neo that inspectors are now checking every summer camp. In case recurrent problems with the anti-fire protection are discovered, fire officers are authorized to order a ban on the camp. The owners and the managers of the summer camps are obliged to ensure at least 2 ways of access outside the buildings. Wooden houses must be single-floored and those made of panel should be plastered and wrapped with fire-safe material. It is absolutely forbidden to cover the buildings with inflammable material such as straw or reed. It is also prohibited to use electrical heaters. 25 children at most can be housed in one wooden building. Fire authorities highlight the necessity for summer camps to be connected to telephone lines and alarm signals in case of a fire. There are more than 80 summer camps providing housing services in Moldova.
