About 80% of the waste in the Republic of Moldova can be recycled if sufficient effort is made in this regard. Currently, only 10% of the garbage is recycled. The issue was developed in the talk show “Issue of the Day” on Canal2 TV channel, IPN reports.

Democratic MP Violeta Ivanov said the waste in the Republic of Moldova is classified as garbage with low caloric output, called by specialists “poor”. “It means that we produce a lot of plastic, paper and glass. Fortunately, we produce less galvanic waste that would cause us headaches in recycling,” stated the MP. According to her, the biological waste can be reused by anaerobic fermentation and by producing biogas that can be used as heat or electric power.

Victor Galusca, head of the Soil and Subsoil Protection Service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, said only 10% of the garbage in Moldova is now recycled, while the other 90% is taken to authorized or unauthorized waste dumps.

The Democratic Party intends to stage a nationwide ecologization campaign that will involve volunteers on April 28. This is entitled “Environment that counts. Show you care”.
