Solitary elderly from parishes of Bessarabian Metropolitan Church will be provided with hot meals

The number of solitary elderly people that eat at the social canteens of the Social Mission “Diaconia” has been increased after the Mission collected 11,800 lei during the fundraising campaign “Our Daily Bread” carried out between March 31 and April 27, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Mission’s vice director Oleg Paraschiv, both private individuals and legal entities have donated money during the campaign. The money will be used to provide 12 elderly people from the parishes of the Bessarabian Metropolitan Church with hot lunch. Unfortunately, the collected funds do not enable to provide more people with at least one meal a day, Oleg Paraschiv said. Diaconia administers five social canteens, but there were selected two of them – in Rosu village in Cahul district and in Ucrainca village in Causeni district. The number of elderly people in these villages is larger than in the other three. About 100 elderly people eat in the Mission’s social canteens each day. The lunch is rather modest, being valued at 5.5 lei.
