A conscript solder of the Motorized Infantry Brigade No. 3 was sentenced to eleven years and six months in jail for causing serious bodily injuries to a mate and violating the statutory rules concerning the relations between soldiers, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, this April the culprit was allowed to go on leave at his home in Chisinau municipality for three days. In this period, the soldier came into conflict with a minor in the court of the Sports Palace of the State University of Moldova. The victim aged 15 suffered serious injuries when he was kicked and punched all over the body by the soldier.
Also, on June 27, 2014, the soldier ill-treated a mate in the eatery of the Motorized Infantry Brigade No. 3 “Dacia” in Cahul. He punched the young man in the left cheek. The victim suffered a contusion and oedema- ecchymosis on the cheek.
The sentence is not yet definitive.
In the first six months of this year, military prosecutors carried out 117 inspections that resulted in 25 criminal cases, two administrative proceedings and other procedures. According to statistics of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the statutory rules were violated in 27 cases.
