The Ministry of Youth and Sport, in partnership with the ROST network (network of organizations promoting the socioeconomic rights of the youth) and the public association for children and youth “Faclia”, launched the social economic agenda of the youth.
In a news conference at IPN, the association’s head Angela Ciocarlan said the document highlights the problems faced by the young people and suggests solutions to them. Over the next two years, the agenda will be a roadmap for the authorities dealing with the problems of the youth.
The agenda suggests instituting a module about the socioeconomic rights and making sure that the internships represent not less than 25% of the professional training programs.
The young people who staged the news conference - Daniela Darzu, Artiom Ursoi and Mihaela Livitski – said the women and young people with disabilities face employment discrimination. Security at work is either not respected. The authorities should offer more powers to the Labor Inspectorate so that it identifies and penalizes the cases of violation of security at work.
Rodica Lupu, who heads the Ungheni inter-sector trade union council, called on the authorities to offer benefits to young entrepreneurs and tax concessions to companies that employ young people. She recommended optimizing the monitoring of child labor and strengthening the social dialogue so as to encourage the young people to form part of trade unions that can protect their rights.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Sergiu Stanciu said the agenda is aimed at sensitizing the authorities to the policies that must be adopted. It is an appropriate document that will strengthen the relations with the young people and youth organizations.
The social economic agenda of the youth was worked out within the project “Decent work for youth – improving the social economic situation of young people in Moldova by empowering Moldovan youth and Moldovan civil society” that is supported financially by the European Union.
