Alexandru Stahurschii, of the Center for Strategic Studies and Reforms, said society should support the Prosecutor General’s Office. To dispel all rumors, the new Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo should present a report in Parliament once in half a year, IPN reports.

Stahurschii noted that he heard a lot of positive comments about the new prosecutor general and his tenure as prosecutor of ATU Gagauzia. “One can seldom say in our society that someone is really professional and one can very seldom say that someone is a statesman,” the Center’s representative stated in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel.

Sociologist Ian Lisnevschi said the persecutor general should have a conception and a strategy as regards his independence from the political sector. Alexandr Stoianoglo should create a department or name a person who will undertake to work with the public so that the prosecutor and his team are allowed to work.

Presidential adviser Sergei Mishin stated Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo knows what the vertical of power in the prosecution service is. This vertical exists in all the counties. “We have a system where the prosecutor general plays rather a nominal role and two institutions, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Case, until now did whatever they wanted. The persecutor general was regrettably unable to influence these. This is surely not right. Alexandr Stoianoglo removed the chiefs of the two institutions and is reforming the prosecution service so that there is hierarchy,” stated Sergey Mishin.
