The Socialists proposed a number of initiatives that they consider will support the mothers and children in the Republic of Moldova. They suggest introducing a monthly allowance of 150 lei intended for all the children younger than 18, regardless of the family’s financial situation. “Such an initiative costs money, but we should not economize on children,” said Socialist MP Vladimir Odnostalco, being quoted by IPN.
They also suggest implementing a monthly payment for children younger than three: 803 lei up to the age of one and 1,734 lei at the age of one to three.
The Socialists consider the children should be fed gratis at school until they complete their studies. As from September 1 this year, the children should get allowances for buying school supplies and the schoolbag. But the financial resources for implementing the initiatives are not mentioned.
Vladimir Odnostalco said that in 2019 the Socialists drafted and registered a bill on family capital, which allows for the provision of three average salaries for the first child born in the family, five average sales for the second child and seven average salaries for the third child.
According to the MP, the children’s access to information is now huge. Regrettably, the grownups do not always manage to follow what the children do online for different reasons. Many children are left unsupervised and are thus exposed to risks. In 2014, there was adopted a law that protects the children, but it wasn’t implemented owing to the limited funds. They will continue the project and will train specialists so as to improve the situation.
