The Socialite MPs propose that all the household users should have the electricity-associated costs for the two months of state of emergency covered, IPN reports.

MP Petru Burduja in a press briefing said the bill is designed to support the population. In the period, a lot of citizens do not have jobs and have reduced capacity to pay for public utilities, including electrical energy.

“This sum will be calculated based on the real consumption of electrical energy for February and March. These data are already available. The measure applies to 1 245 232 consumers, 532 109 of whom are from urban areas, while 713 123 are from rural areas. The power consumption for February for these consumers came to 266. 391 million lei, while for March to 266.284 million lei,” stated the MP.

According to him, a household user in February and March spent by about 200 lei a month. Therefore, for the two months a consumer is to benefit from 428 lei. They money can be transferred to the supplier’s account and then to the consumer’s account. Almost 533 million lei is needed for the purpose.

“The question - where this money will be taken from - will surely appear. We want to reiterate that the parliamentary group of the PSRM during a month has thoroughly examined the state budget. We consider particular costs of the state organizations and bodies related to capital investments planned for 2021 can be cut,” stated Petru Burduja.

The Socialists estimated that these allocations could be provided in two equal parts so as not to affect the budget – in the first half of May and in the first half of June.
