The Socialist councilors of the Municipal Council accuse the Chisinau City Hall of allocating money for events that actually do not take place, IPN reports.
Councilor Gaik Vartanean told a news conference that Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca signed an order by which the municipal budget is allocated 100,000 lei for a concert that was to be given by the band “Gandul Matei” on the Circus arena in Chisinau on September 21. The concert didn’t take place. Moreover, the order was made after September 21.
Commenting on the accusations, the mayor of Chisinau said the order was indeed signed on September 23, but it was a technical mistake that is to be corrected. According to him, the concert will take place in October or November because the band “Gandul Matei” is to do a lot of preparatory work. This will be an anniversary concert and includes the launch of a social project.
The mayor also said that the members of the band make effort to rehabilitate the Circus hall that was destroyed in 2004 by the Socialists, who were then Communists and closed the Circus. According to Dorin Chirtoaca, the date of the concert will be decided by “Gandul Matei” and will be afterward made known.
