For the time being, the Socialist Party isn’t considering the possibility of any coalition with anyone in the future parliament – says Grigore Novac, outgoing MP and Socialist candidate in one of Chisinau’s districts – especially now as it seems some competitors have united forces to request the Socialists’ disqualification from the race.

The candidate however affirms that the Socialist Party has no intention of breaking the law. “We call on the international community, the observers accredited to monitor these elections to provide their own findings when it is time for the international community to recognize that these elections will have been free, fair and transparent. It’s anyone guess what the Democratic Party’s grounds might be for annulling these elections”, Novac stated during the talk show Adevărul Live.

In his opinion, the current race is the dirtiest in the history of Moldova. He went on to accuse the Central Electoral Commission and some observers of overlooking many violations committed by other electoral competitors.

Commenting on the allegations that President Igor Dodon was campaigning in the Socialists’ favor in violation of the law, Grigore Novac said the Socialist Party and the president had two distinct, non-overlapping business agendas. “In this sense, I just don’t see how the president or the president’s office could be involved in these elections”, the candidate said.
