Sympathizers and members of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Wednesday staged a protest in front of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, where the parliamentary commissions hold meetings. The Socialists protested against the rise in the prices of products and electric power and demanded dismissing the governor of the National Bank of Moldova because he didn’t take measures to avoid price rises, IPN reports.

The leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon came with a message for the current government – to leave the personal ambitions aside and to start work. “I understand that tomorrow the Government will most probably not be voted in and you also understand this. Take your bags and go to lie to the people somewhere else. The people here no longer believe you. There is no other solution than holding early elections. I promise we will not give up,” he said.

Igor Dodon also said that Moldova’s population is close to despair and salary, pension and benefit arrears started already to appear. “We consider that Moldova is on the verge of an economic and social collapse. Despite such a background, we witnessed 70 days when those who must govern and those who consider themselves the masters of the Moldovans do not know who should be prosecutor or Prime Minister, while the ordinary people die of hunger. If the authorities cannot tell the people what is going on at Banca de Economii and Banca Sociala, they have two solutions – to flee the country voluntarily and to go to jail. We do not want revolution. We want you to understand that you must go away. We will anyway reach early parliamentary elections,” he stated.

The Socialists demanded that the MPs should take immediate measures to normalize the situation in the banking sector. They announced that they will protest daily and will demand early elections.
