The Socialist parliamentary group is preparing a no-confidence motion against the Filip Government, the Socialists’ leader Igor Dodon told the press on April 21. According to him, they are now negotiating with the opposition groups so that these support the initiative, IPN reports.

“The Communists said they will sign the initiative and we even proposed preparing it together. We also initiated discussions with the Liberal-Democratic group. We aim to have the motion registered immediately after the Easter holidays. We told the leader of the PDM that the Democrats should also support it. I think they have doubts about the way in which this Cabinet was sworn in. Mister Filip may want himself to resign,” stated Igor Dodon.

He noted that the capturing of the state institutions and the lack of reforms are the main causes why they want to make a no-confidence motion. “We hope that this motion will be signed by at least 40 MPs of the opposition. We insist on holding early parliamentary elections simultaneously with the presidential ones. Therefore, the Government must be dismissed by the end of May. Everything depends on the social pressure, on the protests,” said the politician.

Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, when asked by the press to state his opinion on the Socialists’ initiative, said this is a democratic method allowed by the legislation, but the Socialists should clearly formulate their objections to the Cabinet’s work and should attach a government program and a list of candidates for minister that they consider suitable to the motion. If such elements are provided, the seriousness of the intentions will be obvious.
