Socialists intend to dispute Law on Guaranteeing of Equality

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) will challenge the Law on Guaranteeing of Equality in the Constitutional Court because it considers that this law is illegal and goes against a number of constitutional provisions, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the PSRM says the party earlier harshly criticized this law, with the Socialist lawmakers voting against it in Parliament. According to the party, the adoption of this law will not have the expected effects as regards the visa regime with the EU. Instead, Moldova will become a ‘homosexualized’ country that will remain outside the EU’s borders. The Law on Guaranteeing of Equality was passed by the votes of 53 MPs on May 25 and promulgated by President Nicolae Timofti on May 28. It will take effect on January 1, 2013.
