The Central Election Commission (CEC) refused to issue permits and lists required for collecting signatures to the representatives of the initiative group for organizing a referendum on dismissing the Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca. The CEC presented the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice to suspend the decision of the Balti Court of Appeals, by which the initiative group was registered on June 3, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM).
The initiative group’s head, the leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon said the members of the initiative group are deeply indignant at the acts of the Moldovan judicial system that actually serves the interests of Dorin Chirtoaca. “We are indignant at the fact that an incompetent mayor is defended by the whole ruling alliance. We will continue to struggle so as to shamefully dismiss Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca,” he stated.
The initiative group for organizing the referendum on dismissing the mayor of Chisinau was set up last February and was to be registered in five days by the court of law. The procedure has lasted yet for over a year sand a half.
