Socialist MPs submitted a challenge to the Constitutional Court over the appointment of Silvia Radu as acting mayor general of Chisinau municipality by an order signed by Nistor Grozavu, who then held the post of acting mayor on an interim basis, IPN reports.
“We requested the constitutional judges to tell us if an acting mayor has the right to name his successor as acting mayor,” said Ion Ceban, who heads the Socialist group on the Chisinau Municipal Council.
“All the attempts to name a deputy mayor and to then “enthrone” the acting mayor without consulting the Municipal Council are an abuse of power and violation of the law and international norms,” stated MP Vasile Bolea.
The Socialists will also file a preliminary lawsuit to demand that the order to name Silvia Radu as acting mayor general of Chisinau municipality should be annulled. The claim was signed by 19 Socialist councilors of Chisinau.
