Representatives of the Party of Socialists didn’t show up at the discussions commenced by the Bloc ACUM in the evening of June 6 and in the morning of June 7. The Bloc reiterated the common position of its two component parties concerning the readiness to vote a representative of the PSRM as Parliament Speaker on condition that the Socialists support the anti-oligarchic package of laws and the Government assumed by ACUM, IPN reports.
“The Political Bloc ACUM informs that the PSRM didn’t appear at the discussions to consider breaking the political stalemate and avoiding snap elections by electing the executive and working bodies of Parliament, voting the package of anti-oligarchic laws and investing the Government,” ACUM wrote in a posting on Facebook over one hour after the time at which the meeting was to start.
“There are several more hours during which we can free the country from the captivity of the oligarchic regime. An alliance between the PDM and PSRM or the snap elections will only strengthen the dictatorial regime. The Socialist MPs have now the chance of getting rid of Plahotniuc”.
Two days ago, the PAS announced it is ready to vote in a Socialist nominee for Speaker, to assume an ACUM Government and to vote the package of anti-oligarchic laws. Later, the PPPDA requested the Socialists to sign a public commitment by which to promise they will vote a Government led by Maia Sandu in the next sitting of Parliament and the package of anti-oligarchic laws.
After ACUM issued the invitation in the evening of June 6, the PSRM’s secretary for ideology Ion Ceban said the positions of the constituents of the Bloc on the conditions put forward by the Socialists are different and the PSRM is waiting for a common position of the PAS and PPPDA. The Party of Socialists convened its National Council for June 7.
