The Socialist Party has notified the Chisinau City Hall of plans to hold a host of “mass meetings of social and cultural nature” on Saturday and also on Sunday, when Moldovans will go the polls.
As already acknowledged by acting mayor Ruslan Codreanu, one intended location for Socialist rallies on both Saturday and Sunday, in the time span 8:00 AM-10:00 PM, will be the National Opera square, where a stage with audio equipment will be installed.
The Socialists intend to hold a parallel rally within the same time span in the Academy of Sciences plaza, and another one in the Metropolitan Cathedral square from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Moreover, there are plans to hold events in the UNIC mall square from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM The Socialists also booked the Sons of The Motherland Memorial for the time interval 8:00 AM-10:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday.
Contacted by IPN for details, Socialist Party spokesperson Irina Astahova said nothing has been officially announced yet, suggesting that the preliminary notifications would not necessarily be followed by actual events.
