The Socialist MPs will support the draft budgetary-fiscal policy and draft state budget. In a press release, the Party of Socialists says that at the insistence of the Socialist MPs and of incumbent President Igor Dodon, the 2021 draft budgetary-fiscal policy does not include rises in taxes. It was insisted on the necessity of fiscally stimulating particular sectors of the economy so as to help them recover from the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, IPN reports.

In a meeting of the Socialist parliamentary group, which was attended by Igor Dodon, the Socialists decided that they will support the introduction of a reduced VAT rate of 12% on fertilizers in parallel with the use of the same VAT rate on primary agricultural production. They will also back the increase in the VAT refund rate on the export of agriculture production from la 8% to 12% of the value of exports.

The Socialist MPs welcomed the reduction in VAT for the hospitality industry from 15% to 12% and the Government’s proposal to increase the annual personal exemption from 24,000 to 25,200 lei and by 50% the exemption for maintained persons, from 3,000 to 4,500 lei.

The Socialist parliamentary group pleads for pay raises in the public sector. The salaries of healthcare workers will be increased by 30% as from January 1, 2021. Another measure encouraged by the Socialist MPs is to allocate 200 million lei for subsidizing salary taxes for employees who returned to the country from abroad.

The Socialist MPs also decided to support the adoption of the package of laws on ATU Gagauzia and the amendments to the Audiovisual Code and will promote the bill that offers the Russian language the status of language of interethnic communication.
