The parliamentary group of the Party of Socialists summed up the results of the spring-summer session of Parliament that ended on July 21. The Socialist leader Zinaida Grecheanyi told a news conference on July 24 that during the session the Socialist MPs registered 41 bills, IPN reports.

Zinaida Grecheanyi said that many of their initiatives weren’t supported by the parliamentary alliance, while others were copied and transposed to other draft laws for which the Socialists voted because they were for the people’s benefit. Among the main bills adopted by Parliament was that to introduce the mixed-member electoral system. The three laws on Gagauzia were amended by the government as they wanted and passed in another variant that the one proposed by the special working group.

In the same connection, the Socialist leader said the parliamentary alliance does not have the ability to ensure political and economic stability and decent living conditions. Therefore, the current Parliament should be dissolved so as to hold early elections.

MP Vladimir Odnostalco said the Socialists during the previous session formulated a series of proposals on healthcare to strengthen the social protection of people. They suggested a new form of social insurance called social capital, which is designed to encourage birth giving. Owing to the criticism leveled by the Socialists at the health system reform, the process of closing hospitals was stopped.

MP Vladimir Golovatiuc spoke about the economic aspect, saying that despite the statements of the authorities, the economic growth in Moldova is zero, the foreign investment decreased by one third, while the external debt rose by 13% on last year.

The situation in agriculture and education remains serious. However, owing to the efforts made by President Igor Dodon and the Party of Socialists, the export of Moldovan products to Russian was unblocked, stated the MPs.

Zinaida Grecheanyi said the Socialist MPs will continue work atthe local level even if Parliament is officially on vacation as of August 1.
