The incomes of private individuals should be taxed depending on their annual earnings, by 7%, 17% or 25%.  Such a legislative initiative was put forward by the Socialist MPs, who consider that social equity will be established this way and the people with low incomes will pay lower taxes, while those with high incomes – higher taxes, IPN reports.

The bill authors propose that the annual incomes lower than 45,000 should be taxed by 7%, those between 45,000 and 68,400 – by 17%, while those higher than 68,400 – by 25%. They also suggest putting a zero tax on the reinvested annual profit of legal entities, farms and individual entrepreneurs and increasing the personal exemption to 12,000 lei.

The Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance decided that this bill, together with other bills concerning the budgetary-fiscal policy, should be examined by a working group formed of MPs and Government experts, who would formulate proposals for the budgetary-fiscal policy for next year.

There are now two income rates – 7% for incomes lower than 30,000 lei and 18% for incomes higher than this sum.
