The MPs of the Party of Socialists demand that the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection should annul the order by which Ala Nemerenco was issued with a master’s diploma. They also demand that Ala Nemerenco should immediately tender her resignation from the post of adviser to the President, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the PSRM.

In a news conference, the MPs said that if the Ministry ignores their demands, they will make approaches to the Prosecutor General’s Office. “President Maia Sandu promised to promote only competent, professional people to administrative posts. But she hasn’t fulfilled her promise after taking over,” stated Alla Darovannaya.

She noted that a response to a request made by her says that Ala Nemerenco and another six Moldovans received a master’s diploma from the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy without taking admission exams, without taking part in lectures and without defending a master’s thesis, based on an order issued by the Ministry of Health. “It’s not clear why they did this as an exception, why the legislation was violated. We hope the Ministry of Health will annul this order or we will take all the legal steps for this decision to be annulled as soon as possible,” stated Alla Darovannaya.

Earlier, Ala Nemerenco said her master’s diploma was given to her and other lecturers who laid the foundations for the School of Public Health Management. “Alongside other colleagues, we attended training courses in different countries namely for the purpose of designing the curriculum of this school. The courses were equated with this master’s diploma. We cannot be found among the graduate students as we were teachers of this school starting with 2005 and educated 12 generations there,“ stated Ala Nemerenco.

The State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemiţanu” confirmed the issuing of the master’s diploma in public health management to Ala Nemerenco on November 30, 2007, based on the Ministry of Health’s order of November 30, 2007 and the order of the University’s rector of November 30, 2007.

Contacted by IPN for a comment, spokeswoman for the presidential administration Sorina Ștefîrță said President Maia Sandu for several times stated that she trusts the professionalism, competence and integrity of her team. “Missis Maia Sandu also said that she is open to any real and fair investigation conducted by public institutions. In this case, it is a simple campaign aimed at discrediting the team,” stated Sorina Stefîrță.
