The Socialist councilors on the Chisinau Municipal Council accuse the suspended mayor Dorin Chirtoaca of approving changes to the project to reconstruct the main artery of the capital city Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd without these being made public. As a result, the cost of the project was increased by over €800,000. The Socialists also said that low quality materials are used to repair the streets in Chisinau, IPN reports.
Councilor Alexandr Odintsov in a press briefing said the local Socialist councilors receive complaints from residents of Chisinau and business entities. The last complaint was submitted by a company that accuses the municipality of having used low quality materials to repair Stefan cel Mare Blvd and Alecu Russo St, with the cost of works being raised compared with the initially agreed sums.
According to the company, it won the tender contest to supply reinforced concrete for the works executed on Stefan cel Mare Blvd, but the municipal road maintenance company “Exdrupo” continues to purchase concrete also from other companies, in particular the firm that carried out works on Alecu Russo St. In this connection, the Socialist councilor said a relevant application will be filed to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Alexandr Odintsov presented a video, suggesting that only earth instead of gravel is put under pavements on Stefan cel Mare Blvd. Therefore, new funds will be soon required to repair the sidewalks there.
